VBS wrap up

We have just wrapped up one of the most FUN weeks of VBS! Spark Studios Vacation Bible School this year was all about learning that we are God’s masterpiece, created for a purpose! We had over 50 kids in attendance this week and I think it’s safe to say they all had a BLAST! We began each day with worship with “Colorful Carl” and skits from “Professor Spark” and his assistant (Pastor Seth and Pastor Mark). Then the kids rotated through the stations: Bible Study Studio, Missions Workshop, Recreation Station, Art Design Center and back to the Worship Rally to end the day. In each station the Bible points were talked about and developed through games and activities. Day 1- God is the Marvelous Creator. Kids learned about David and how he praised God in Psalm 104. Day 2- God uniquely designed us for a purpose. The kids learned how God prepared David to be a King in 1 Samuel 16. Day 3- Jesus is the King God promised to save us. They read in Matthew where the people welcomed Jesus as their King. Day 4- Jesus fulfilled God’s plan to save us. They read the Gospel story and learned that Jesus died to save us from sin but rose to life again! We had 4 children accept Christ as their Savior and Lord this day! Thank you Lord. Day 5- The Holy Spirit gives us the power to follow God’s plan. They read where Jesus sent the Holy Spirit in Acts and talked about the Holy Spirit is our helper too.

One new part to VBS this year was the Art Studio- kids worked TOGETHER all week on two different art projects. They “created” and collaborated and learned how God is our creator and allows us to be creative too. Check out these beautiful art projects in the sanctuary this weekend!

Another really cool part about VBS this year was the Mission workshop. The kids learned about two different missionary families: one in Philadelphia and one in Guatemala. Even though these families live in very different places and have very different lives, their job is the same- to share the love and Gospel of Jesus to people in their city. They even learned that Guatemala is where chocolate is made and got to taste chocolate on Friday! One of the neatest parts of this rotation was that the kids got to take part in their own “mission” in sharing the love of Jesus.  The kids brought in arts and crafts supplies to donate to a local preschool. They decorated bags and put encouraging messages on them. By the end of the week we had about 25 bags of donations!! How neat to see them thinking and caring for others.

What a wonderful week we had with all the kiddos, worshipping God and learning more about Him!
