I Am Who You Say I Am

If you haven’t heard it, it’s a pretty popular new song by Ben Fielding and Reuben Morgan.  Often, we love to sing songs in church that have a catchy hook, and a great melodic build.  The power and pulse of the music lifts us up in a way that is difficult to explain, and we can experience just a glimpse of heaven.

In the verses, the song challenges us to consider…who are we really?  What is our value, that the king of all the universe would welcome us into His family?  Though we were lost, and persistently so, because of our incredible stubbornness,  still…He ransomed us.

Why?  Because we deserved it?  Oh no, not even close.  It’s 100% because if His grace.  His unfathomable grace, that while we were STILL slaves to sin. Unable in ANY WAY to redeem our own situation, He chose to adopt us into COMPLETE hope and COMPLETE restoration with Him…to be part of God’s eternal family.  In the CHORUS, we take a moment just to celebrate that freedom:

Who the Son sets free…oh is free indeed, I’m a child of God.  Yes I am!

In my Father’s house, there’s a place for me.  I’m a child of God.  Yes I am!
