HAUNTING
There is a deep haunting echoing in the heart.
From deep in heart’s caverns, a treasured missing part.
No matter what we think, no matter what we do,
What is that missing part? We haven’t got a clue.
Human eyes can’t see with twenty-twenty vision,
Our soul’s deepest desire and God’s great provision.
Can you sense the yearning? It craves for affection.
It echoes in the heart, longs for deep connection.
Another haunt hunts you, a desire to be known.
He sees your darkest shame, but grace flows from His throne!
He offers you His Son, who died to bring you home,
To find soul’s deepest rest, no more to ever roam.
Hiding in the shadows, deep longings convening,
“My life, does it matter? Does my life have meaning?”
Not just for a season, or life’s modernity,
But after my passing, for all eternity?
To love well and be loved, with self out of the way,
Reflecting wondrous grace throughout the live-long day.
Mercy drops from heaven wash ugly hearts anew,
Softens dark, hardened hearts, where Sonshine can break through.
The difference that You make in transforming our hearts,
Seems similar to the world’s changes through fits and starts.
Our efforts seem so small, it feels irrelevant,
Part of the army of the insignificant.
