Good Friday 2026

“Good Friday” is a strange name for this day.
If you describe what actually happened — a man arrested on false charges, beaten beyond recognition, nailed to a cross in front of a mocking crowd “good” is not the first word that comes to mind. Horrific. Unjust. Brutal. Those fit. But good?
Unless something else was happening underneath what everyone could see.
This Good Friday message walks through the crucifixion narrative in Luke 22–23 and unpacks four word pictures the New Testament uses to explain what the cross actually accomplished — Substitution, Sacrifice, Propitiation, and Ransom. Four different angles on the same moment. One cross. One death. One Friday the whole history of the world hinges on.
