Pastor Seth – Poems and Musings

Refuge

High, atop a mountain, a place of comfort, there.

A beautiful blue sky, puffed clouds, crystal clear air.

Aspen leaves fluttering, a mountainside of red,

I hear a rushing stream, grass and leaves for a bed.

Away from grizzly bears, far from timber crashes,

Away from hellish winds, far from lightning flashes.

My place of rest is here, this, my sanctuary.

My neighbors in the tree? Eagles in their aerie.

Oh, where is this retreat? Aspen, Colorado?

This refuge? In my heart! Comforts in God’s shadow!

Grazing in green pasture, sheltered in the Most High,

Resting by still waters, His wells that won’t run dry.

This haven lies within, where God then made His home.

A soul once lost restored, that once could only roam.

Lithe mountain deer now tread on heights above the fray

And eagles soar on wings while eaglets nest and play.
